Restaurant Hearth (heart, earth, art) | great concept, but the food..
Restaurant H/eart.h is not the first place you think about as a vegan visiting Amsterdam, but the place really attracted me!
It was mostly knowing that they have swings around a wooden table haha.
The restaurant is located on the famous Albert Cuypstraat in the Pijp, many people go there to visit the market so it must be a great spot to have your restaurant!
From their website:
”H/eart.h stands for HEART because this is the space where we cultivate all our passions…
H/eart.h stands for EARTH because we adopt a plant based diet and try to be as sustainable as we can..
H/eart.h stands for ART, because we love creativity in all its forms and expressions…
H/eart.h is also a HEARTH for our guests, a warm and interactive place where people can hang out, connect or show off their talent…”
I totally love the name and their concept! but how to pronounce it? More like heart, more like earth or?
Too bad the menu is not fully vegan even though it says they adopt a plantbased diet.
Maybe one day?
About 2 weeks ago I met up with Isabelle for a day of content shooting in Amsterdam, for lunch we decided to visit Hearth.
We walked in around 11:30 and the waiter told us they weren’t open yet, but we could still sit down.
In the restaurant there’s a big wooden table surrounded by plants and fairy lights. Instead of chairs it has swings around it.
They sell some clothes and other things like coconut bowls and cute necklaces.
We sat down at a table next to the window so we’d have natural light to take pictures ofcourse 😉
I started with a chai latte with oat milk and Isabelle went straight for a classic vegan tiramisu + fresh ginger tea.
My chai latte was a bit disappointing in flavor, but Isabelle her tiramisu was literally the best thing ever!
After talking and taking some pictures we ordered our food. I went for the creamy sweet potato soup, Isabelle got a sandwich and we got the falafel waffle to share.
How interesting does that sound? A falafel waffle!
Unfortunately the food was a bit disappointing. It looked good, the ideas are great, but it was a bit tasteless.
The soup was too liquidy (instead of creamy) and the falafel waffle really needed a kick of spices.
We did tell the waiter as we feel like the food could easily taste a lot better with a few adjustments!
A couple sitting next to us were totally in love with their food, they had some other dishes..
Would I go back or recommend it?
I would totally go back for the tiramisu and the great vibes! When they have an event on the agenda for example.
If it was for just the food I’m not sure. I bet they have some amazing dishes, but the things we got were disappointing.
I feel bad for putting this out here, but this is just my opinion ofcourse and it might taste amazing to you!
&we met this fun, kind human being thereMaybe we’ll meet in London (or America) someday!
